QIAT Summit 2008
The QIAT Summit 2008 was held June 23
and 24th on
the campus of Northwestern College in Roseville, Minnesota, a suburb of
Minneapolis. There were 36 participants representing 14
states. At last year's summit it was decided to focus on two
indicator areas and to begin to develop resource materials that would
help to support, explain, and illustrate the quality indicators for
assistive technology services.
The work of the 2008 Summit concentrated
on the
development of materials in the indicator areas of Implementation and
Evaluation of Effectiveness. Participants worked in small groups to
develop a guiding document and two stories that illustrate each of the
two selected areas. The stories focused on how the quality indicators
might help a team plan, implement and review the use of assistive
technology. One story focused on a student with low incidence
disability and the other on a student with a high incidence
disability.
Each small group shared their products
with the
large QIAT Summit group. All participants made
recommendations
and suggestions that would increase the quality of the products. The
products will be reviewed by the QIAT leadership team in late
September.
And what would a Summit be without colored index cards.
