QIAT Summit 2010

Group of the Summit Participants
The QIAT Summit 2010 was held June 22 and 23rd in Sunrise, Fl; a suburb of Fort Lauderdale in Broward County Florida. There were 23 participants representing 12 states. At last year's summit it was decided to focus on two indicator areas and continue to develop resource materials that would help to support, explain, and illustrate the quality indicators for assistive technology services.

The work of the 2010 Summit concentrated on the development of guiding documents in the indicator areas of Consideration and Administrative Support. Participants worked in small groups to develop the guiding documents and examples that illustrate each of the two selected areas. Visit the Resources link at the top of this page if you would like to see the completed work for the "Guiding Document for Including Assistive Technology In the IEP".

The 2010 QIAT Summit benefited from the work of the group that is focusing on the Quality Indicators for Assistive Technology Post Secondary Education (QIAT-PS). The QIAT-PS group identified the final quality indicator areas for postsecondary education and drafted the indicators in each area.  The working group also began work on matrices for the indicators. The QIAT-PS group will transform the self-advocacy area designed for students into a tool for post secondary education institutes.

Each small group shared their products with the large QIAT Summit group.  All participants made recommendations and suggestions that would increase the quality of the products. The products will be reviewed by the QIAT leadership team in late September.  Previously reviewed documents will be shared at conferences.
