Communication Aids

SpeakEasy

SpeakEasy is an inexpensive electronic communication aid with tape-recorded speech, which uses direct selection. The student simply presses the membrane keypad to play back one of the tape-recorded messages. An overlay is used to cover the keypad. SpeakEasy can hold up to twelve messages, and its memory capacity is four minutes of prerecorded speech. Although scanning is not an option, 12 switches can be plugged into the device so that each switch activates a different message. The device is battery powered, and weighs only a pound.
