 There are many ways of adapting vehicles to make them more accessible for drivers or occupants. Alternative driving controls such as hand switches, or touch-pad controls can be added in either cars or vans. A variety of special lifts for accommodating an occupant or driver's wheelchair is also available. Most vehicle manufacturers have special departments designed to help implement adaptations to their vehicles.
