Kurzweil Scanner

This scanner affords individuals with visual impairments access to some text documents. The user slides the text document into the machine which interprets the image using phonics rules, and sends the information to the speech synthesizer, but the output quality is largely dependent on the input document. Once loaded on the computer, the document can be saved as a text file and accessed through other means (magnification, braille output, etc.). A version that does not require a computer is also available.
