 The Reading Edge is an optical character recognition (OCR) device from Xerox Imaging Systems. It is considered a transportable reader; all components are housed in one self-contained unit weighing 24 pounds. Like the Xerox/Kurzweil personal reader, this device provides DECtalk synthesized speech at rates up to 550 words per minute. This device can accommodate documents ranging in size from 3 by 5 inches to 8.5 by 17 inches.
